MANY STRIKING FEATURES
Jn the current issue of the Auckland Weekly News, on sale to-day, the splendid illustrated section is particularly outstanding, containing a wealth of special pictorial features, as well as tho usual excellent selection of topical news and scenic pictures from all quarters. The striking centre double-page is sure to command wide attention and interest. On it are reproduced two remarkably fine comprehensive views of Wangauui. One picture is an aerial view of the city looking south, while the other is from Durio Hill looking in the opposite direction, and, with all the prominent points of interest indicated, they form a splendid pictorial record of one of New Zealand s most progressive and picturesque cities. In view of tho widespread interest being taken in the present tour of the Dominion by the Wallabies, Australia's Rugby Union football representatives, tho frontispiece, devoted to studio portraits of all members of the team, provides an attractive souvenir of their visit.
Photographs secured during a recent tour of the famous old goldfields of the Otago and Southland districts are reproduced on a full page. Another page shows scenes on some of tho lonely Pacific island dependencies of New Zealand in the vicinity of the Cook group.
The remaining pages of this splendid number are devoted to an excellent scries of miscellaneous photographs depicting events and scenes of interest in all parts of New Zealand, as well as overseas, lho following list; will give some idea of the extreme diversity of subjects: —Ranfurly Shield won l>y tho Canterbury Rugby football representatives; harbour facilities and works at Nelson; Auberfc Home of Compassion opened at Wanganui; repair work at Arapuni hydro-electric works; Mount Egmont, Taranaki's great winter playground; an unconquered Southern Alps peak; Kifig and Queen in Scotland; woman's activities in sport and other items of feminine interest; old wrecks recalled; many Canterbury topics; tennis finalists at Wimbledon; memorial hut in Tongariro National Park; golfing at Rotorua; Wellington shipping and railway activities.
