TAXATION PROBLEMS.
HAMILTON SUGGESTIONS,, [from our own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Friday, The executive committee of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce has drawn up the following remits for submission to the annual Dominion conference:— " That, in view of the reduced earning power of most wage earners, this chamber protests against any increase in taxation on the necessaries of life, and is decidedly of opinion that if heavier taxation is necessary it should be imposed on luxury items. Whereas in the opinion of this chamber there is a considerable leakage through the non-rendering of income returns by persons with taxable incomes, it should be obligatory on every adult to furnish a return of income, or, alternatively, to make a declaration as to the amount of income earned.
