Dr. J. Hight, rector of Canterbury College, who has been attending the Empire Universities' Conference in England, left last week on his return to New Zealand, via America. He is expected to arrive about September 12.
Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, arrived in Auckland yesterday to welcome the Australian football team, which will arrive by tha Ulimaroa. fi*om Sydney to-day. lie is at the Hotel Cargen. Flying-Officer Arnold Wall, who is with the Royal Air Force in India, is making satisfactory progress after the removal of an eye following an accident, according to advice received by his father, Professor Arnold Wall, of Canterbury College, from the Air Ministry, London. Flying-Officer Wall is now in the Military Hospital afc Raznak, India. The Rev. Bernard Wilson, president of the Canterbury Auxiliary of the Baptist Union of New "Zealand, left Wellington by the Monowai on Friday for Sydney. Mr. Wilson is the Dominion superintendent of Junior Christian Endeavour Societies, and he will speak on youth work at the jubilee gatherings of Christian Endeavour to commence at the Town Hall, Sydney, to-day.
