CROQUET CLUB.

A pleasant little function took place at the Hillsborough Croquet Club recently to farewell Mrs. Rankin, a visitor from Sonth Australia, who hac'l spent most of her leisure time on the green. Progressiva croquet was played, the winner, of the A grade being Mrs. Thompson; B grade, Mrs. Bisshoff. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion, and the piesiuent, Mis.; Thompson, presented Mrs. Rankin, on behalf of the club, with a powder bowl of wood made from the timber of the Arapuni buried forest, as a sma.il token., ol esteem and.remembrance.
