TAXI-DRIVERS FINED.
TINS OF PROVISIONS STOLEN. INCIDENT ON MAUI POMARE. Two taxi-drivers, William Stanloy Amundsen and Arthur John Flynn, both aged 31, were charged in the Police Court yesterday with stealing two tins of fish and ono tin of'pears from the Government vessel Maui Pomare. Amundsen pleaded guilty and Flynn not guilty. 1 Detective-Sergeant Mcllugh stated that about 8 p.m. 011 Monday both accused went to the King's Wharf. Amundsen went on board tho Maui Pomare and was given the goods in question by a pantryman on the vessel. Amundsen later h/inded the tins to Flynn, who placed them underneath a seat in his taxi. The incident was observed and the tins were recovered when tho taxi was hold up by a wharf gatekeeper. Tho magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, fined Amundsen £5, in default 14 days' imprisonment. Flynn was fined £2, with the alternative of seven days' imprisonment.
