PROTECTION OF WOMEN.
There was a good attendance of members at tho monthly meeting of the board of tho Society _ for the Protection of Women and Children, tho Rev. I . S. Smallfiold presiding. _ Before commencing business tho chairman extended a warm welcome to Mr. Marks, president of tho Jewish Benevolent Society, a new member of the executive, and also to the Rev. D. D. Scott, a vice-president of the society. Regret was expressed at tjie death of the Rev. S. Sedgwick, who had always taken a keen interest in the work of the society. A vote of thanks was accorded the ladies' committee for the result of tlio jumble sale, and Mrs. Devorc', their president, announced that a bring and buy afternoon would be held nt tho end of the month. The reports of the secretary and inspector showed that many cases had been dealt with of a varied nature during tho month, there having been 547 office interviews and 124 visits to homes, institutions, etc.
