AUCKLAND FRENCH CLUB.

In celebration of the storming of the Bastille tho Auckland French Club held a very enjoyable evening at tho Penwomen's League rooms yesterday. The rooms wej'o attractively decorated with small flags of different countries and on the side curtains of the stage crossed French flags added a 'patriotic note to tho scene. The programme opened with a play, entitled "Uu beau Mariage," in which the parts were taken by Miss Cherry, Miss Macky, Mr. Yockney and Mr. Bertram. In the second play, "La Suite a. Domain," Miss Peggy Cherry, Miss Ruth Warren, Mr. P. S. Ardern, Mr. Ha slant and Mr. Robertson took part. The producer of both plays was Mr. P. S. Ardern. The remainder of the programme comprised an instrumental trio by tho Misses Moore; monologue, Miss Ethna Cork; French songs, Mrs. _J. J. Sullivan and Mr. Wilbraham; violin solo. Mr. John P. Hulme. Supper was served at tho conclusion of tho evening by tho members of the committee.
