WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
Maunu.—The Maiinu Women's Institute Celebrated its third anniversary at tho homo of Mrs. Snell. Opportunity was taken to make a presentation of an attache case to the secretary, Miss Millington, in recognition of her services to the institute since its inception. ' Tho presentation was made by the' president, Mrs. Wilson, who made eulogistic reference to Miss Millington's valuable services. Afternoon tea was provided. A "bring and buy" stall had been arranged, and the result was a substantial addition to the federation fund. To Awamutu,—A lesson in fruit-prun-ing was given at a meeting of the To Awamutu Institute by Mr. M. 11. "Williams, also on tree and bush pruning. At the same time he gave some helpful instructions on gardening in general. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Battison, Gibson, Badhan and Noonan. Competitions and songs wore also enjoyed. Waimana-Nukuhou. —Mrs. Wyldo addressed'a meeting of the institute on the business of tho federation executive held in Whakatane. A crate of goods from the Blind Institute sold readily. Mrs. Burnett gave an interesting demonstration of paper flower making. Whakatane.—At a meeting of the institute an interesting reading of the life of the second Governor of New Zealand was given by Mrs. Guest, and a lesson in smocking was given by Mrs. Stewart. Hostesses for tea were Mosdames Buddie, Eraser, Johnson, Orr and Williams.
