MEETING AT TAKAPUNA.

ORGANISATION FORMED. A meeting of women convened by Sirs. J. C. Blomfield, president of the Western Area Ratepayers' Association, was held in the Foresters' Hall, Takapuna, last week. To a large and representative gathering Mrs. Blomfield explained that in response to numerous requests she had called the meeting with a view to formulating a scheme to relieve distress in the borough and also with the object of forming a Takapuna Women's Council, where many subjects of interest may bo discussed. It was decided to combine the two bodies and Mrs. Blomfield was elected to act as its president. Some very practical suggestions were made by the president which would assist tho unemployed girls in tho borough. The committee will be glad if girls who are Wanting help would make themselves known to them. A small committee was set up to investigate and deal with several cases of distress that had been reported. A meeting of the newly-formed council will be held shortly /at a date to be arranged.
