KING'S OLD BOYS' TEAM. MAY PLAY IN FIRST GRADE. UMPIRES FOR SHIELD MATCHES/ The management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association decided last evening to recommend to tho new committee to bo appointed at tho next annual meeting in September that King's Old Boys bo admitted to tho first grade competition next season. ■ Mr. P. Shaw expressed the opinion that the members of the team would not be strong enough for senior grade. . Neither did he think it right that any two teams should have to amalgamate to make room for further entrants. Mr. H. Duncan said tho club was well organised and a very keen team spirit was apparent, among the players. This was a great asset in a. senior team. He thought the club would bring in young players who would otherwise be lost to the game. It was decided that tho Riddolls Memorial Cup be awarded to the most improved player in the first grade, the late player s family to give a miniature each season. Tho committee agreed to the request of the Auckland Rugby Union that the Eden Park oval bo made available for the representative Rugby match between Auckland and Wellington on September 19. In response to a circular issued by the New Zealand Cricket Council it was to approve of the principle of the council making the appointments of umpires m all Plunket Shield mutches.
