STIRRING UP TROUBLE.

Sir,—lt is inevitable that in distressing times there should be a good deal of demonstrative discontent, but there is no disguising the fact that there is a definite system at work in Auckland to stir up trouble. lam inclined to think that the most . demonstrative agitators are foolish boys, but those who are egging them on have a set purpose, plainly evident, in view. One realises that there is wisdom in a policy that prevents anyone claiming the martyr's crown, but a fact that should be emphasised is that the activities of a very small clamorous minority react against the many who are most deserving of help. There are some people, in Auckland who do not want to see the problem of unemployment solved, because their aims imply the violence that cannot take place unless there is bitterness and discontent.
