"HAY FEVER."
"Hay Fever," one of Noel Coward's delightful comedies, will be staged in His Majesty's Theatre by the J. C. Williamson English comedy company until Saturday evening. There will also be a matinee performanco on Saturday afternoon. It is a deliriously humorous satire on the introduction of art and Bohemianism into family life. Every member of the Bliss family has a pronounced leaning toward some form of art. Miss Ethel Morrison, the gifted New Zealand actress, gives a splendid characterisation as a ranting former actress, who pines to get back to "her devoted public." This is regarded as her finest performance in Auckland to date. Other competent artigis are Miss Mary MacGregor, as the capricious daughter; Mr. John Wood, in the part of the artist son; Mr. J. B. Howe. Mr. Leslie Victor and a talented supporting cast. The acting throughout is uniformly good. Some excellent characterisation is to be found among the various guests at a house party, who are so neglected by their self-centred hosts that their early departure is scarcely noticed.
