AUCKLAND CLUB'S EVENT.
S AVID AN WINS FOUR MILES. The Auckland Amateur Athletic Club continued its winter competitions at the Domain on Saturday, when sprint and field events were held, but a four-miles harrier run was substituted for the usual steeplechase. About a dozen competitors started in this event, which was run through the Domain Drive, down to Carlaw Park and back to the Domain via the steep hill helow the hospital. The pack kept together most of the way, J W. Savidan winning from McCarthy. Rodeers and McNiel, who finished in that older. There was a good muster of 27 members of the University Club at the Mount Roskill school, when a (ij-miles run was held over what proved to be the finest crosscountry courso encountered so far this season First the Three Kings hills were climbed, and then the trail led through the Winstone estate and over Mount Roskill, past the Akarana golf links, and across the swampy country to Waikowhai, A narrow, slippery clay track through the thick scrub and down the cliff proved most difficult. A fair piece of road was then encountered on the way back It. the starting-point, for the run-in over about 440 yards. This was a great race. and resultedßoss, 1; Spooner, 2; A. A very enjoyable run was held from the residence of Mr. Wilson, Ranfurly Road, by the Technical College Old Boys' Club. Afternoon tea was kindly provided at the conclusion. A distance of dome six miles was covi-rcd by (lie slow pack, while tlie last pack ran about a milo further. A. Moon was first man homo, followed by A. Warren. The run-in resulted:— Slow Pack.—S. J Gitdsell, 1; A. H. Candy (Canterbury). 2: K. Gillespie, 3. Fast Pack.—G Kells, 1; L, C. Barker, 2; g. inn. -1. CALLIOPE CLUB. The Calliope Hairier Club held ft fourmiles teams' toa 1 race over a hard, hilly courso at Birkdale, starting from the residence of Mrs. Usher The field of 14 started off at a -fairly fast pace. Rowland led prnctically throughout, eventually coming homo 50 yards ahead of Clnyton, with Eyre 10 yards furthei back. The result was:—A. Rowland, 1; A. E Clayton, 2; A. H. Eyro, ; J.
