DECISION OF ROAD EVENTS

RECORD FOR TAMAKI COURSE,

The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held a road race over 16 J miles on Saturday under ideal conditions. A record field of 17 riders competed. The scratch riders, n. M. McElroy and H. Browno, gave away starts up to 8m 30s. The limit riders held the lead from the start, and the winner, Stocken, crossed tho line an easy first, with the second rider over half a mile away. Results are:—S. B. Stocken, 8m 30s, 1; H. E. Enderby, 8m 303, 2; G. Jeeves, 4m 30s, 3: M. A. Johnson, 7in, 4. H. M. McElroy, scr, returned fastest time in 4Gm 20s. MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB. Apart from a strong southerly wind over a short portion at tho back of the circuit, conditions were good when the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club decided a junior and a senior raco on Saturday. Following aro the results:— Junior Event, 5 miles.—E. O. Potter, 3m, 1; P. H. Bic.knell. 3m 30s, 2; It. Campbell. 3m 30s, 3; R. Lyall, 4m 15s, 4. J. H. McLachlan, scr, outsprinted H. V. Gordon, scr, to gain fastest time in 14m 395. Fourteen started. Senior Event, 12} milcß.—R. G. Foubister, scr, 1; F. J. Casey, 2m 30s, 2; G. Jones, 4m, 3; S. J. Baird, 2m 30s, 4. In addition to winning, Foubister recorded fastest time in 33m 58s. FINE EFFORT BY WADE. Under perfect road racing conditions the Auckland Cycle Club conducted a 20i miles raco at Tamaki on Saturday, the event being contested by 12 riders. The lone scratch rider, J. H. Wade, conceded starts up to Bm. The race as follows:—J. H. Wade, scr, 1; K. Rae, 4m, 2; F. Lowndes, Gm. 3; L. Tomkins. Bm, 4. Fastest time was returned by Wade, in 57rn. Wade's time reduced S. Litchfield's figures by as much as 2m 50s. He established a new course record.
