PRESBYTERIAN MINISTERS.
NO SALARY REDUCTIONS.
PRESENT STIPENDS INADEQUATE
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] . WELLINGTON. Saturday. The report of a sub-committee of elders which considered the question of reducing ministerial salaried was presented at the Presbyterian Assembly to-day. The convener said many ministers and missionaries had intimated their willingness to sharo the sacrifices made by the community, but the committee recognised that the stiDends now paid were very inadequate, and compared unfavourably with wages generally paid in the community. Moreover they iwd not participated in ',lio increases that had characterised tho salaries of-others during • tho past few years. The committee was -convinced tfcure should be'no reduction. His collea-'ues on the committee,-all business men, : were of tho opinion, that . the minimum stipend should bo increased rather than decreased. Tho report was adopted.
