CIVIC SERVICES HELD.
CEREMONY AT WHANGAREI. [BY TKLEGPiAriI. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WHANGAREI, Sunday. A civic service was conducted by Rev. E. Sago iii tho Methodist Church. Whangarei, this evening. It was attended by the Mayor, Mr. W. Jones, and councillors, as well as representatives of several other local bodies. Prior to the service the Municipal Band played several selections of a sacred nature outside the church. Tho preacher took for his subject "Tho Ideal City." TE AROHA GATHERING. LARGE NUMBERS ATTEND.
[from our own correspondent.] TE AROHA, Sunday. " The new St. David's Presbyterian Church was the scene of a largely-at-tended civic service this morning. The Municipal and Pipe Bands were in attendance, as well as members of the fire brigade, Boy Scouts and municipal bodies. Tho Rev, 11. B. Hughes was the preacher. Special hymns were sung and an address was given to tho children.
