CONSULAR DINNER.
REPRESENTATIVE GATHERING. The annual consular dinner, which is held by the Auckland Consular Corps, on tho eve of the King's Birthday, took place at the Star Hotel on Tuesday evening. The dean of the corps, M. Paul Serre, presided over a representative attendance. The guests included the Postmaster-Gen-eral, tho Hon. J. B. Donald, and Mrs. Donald, and the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, and Mrs. Hutchison. M. Scrre, in welcoming Mr. Donald, said it was the first time the corps had had the privilege of entertaining a Cabinet. Minister at its annual banquet. The speaker also welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress, and extended congratulations to Mr. J. A. C. Allum, consul for Switzerland, on his re-election as chairman of tho Auckland Transport Board. The following toasts were honoured: — "The King and the Royal Family," proposed by Si. Serre; "Tho Prime Minister and Members of Cabinet," proposed by Mr. Allum, and responded to by Mr. Donald: ''The Dean and Deputy-Dean," proposed by Mr. A. B. Robertcn, consul for Japan, and replied to by M. Serre and Mr, A. M. Ferguson, consul for Belgium; "The Ladies," proposed by Mr. W. F. Boyle, consul for the United. States, and responded to by Mrs. Hutchison; "Our Guests," proposed by Mr. J. T. F. Mitchell, consul for Sweden, and replied to by Mr. Hutchison.
