HARD WORK ON GLACIER. OFFERS FOR EXHIBITION. Times Cable. • LONDON, Jutvs 2. The Vienna correspondent of tho Times says 40 soldiers and Tyroleso peasants took fi'-e hours to carry down Professor A. Piccard's balloon, which after reaching an altitude of ten miles came down on a glacier in the Austrian Alps. Three London department stores urgently telegraphed seeking the right to exhibit tho aluminium sphere, which, after infinite labour, was lowered down 1000 ft., to where it might bo possible to shift it to a valley when next there is an abundance of snow.
