TRANSPORT BOARD.
SAFETY ZONE DIFFICULTY. VULCAN LANE POSITION. The opinion that the suggested shortening of the safety zone opposite Vulcan Lane would not reduce the traffic difficulties at that point was expressed by the Auckland Transport Board's manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, in a report adopted by the board yesterday. • Mr. Ford- said the shortening of the zone by Bft. at each end' would reduco its length to 74ft., which would be too short to accommodate two tramcars. He recommended that the City Council should be advised that the suggested alterations would not help the position. In the near future the central pole in Queen Street near Vulcan Lane would be removed and that would facilitate traffic movement at that point. Applications from Mr. It. Skelton and Mr. M. W. Karews, to establish services between Victoria Avenue and Commerce Street and between Blockhouse Bay and Mount Albert tram terminus respectively, were referred to the board in committee.
