ROBBED WHILE ASLEEP.
MOUNT EDEN FAMILY.
THIEF BUSY IN DISTRICT. Two sums of money, totalling £ll 10s, were stolen from a house in Fairvicw Road, Mount Eden, on Monday evening. Although the thief made . a thorough search of the house and entered the bedrooms, he was not heard by the sleeping occuDants.
The thief had no difficulty in entering the house, as the doors were not locked. He opened a suitcase in one bedroom and stole £9 10s from an envelope. The money had been collected for a presentation, and tho thief, left the opened envelope and a slip of paper which it contained in the case. In another bedroom he opened a handbag which was lying on an occupied bed and stole a purse containing £2. Several cases have been reported recently of houses in Mount Eden and the vicinity being entered at night while the occupants have been asleep. It is believed that the same thief is responsible in all cases. From what is known of him, he docs not attempt to enter houses where the doors and windows are locked. It has been shown that he is an active man, who operates very quietly.
