YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH.
NO evldence of negligence

The adjourned inquest into the death of Miss 'Florence Minnie Butt, aged 23, who was knocked down by a motor-cycle on May 16, was held before the coroner, Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., to-day.
The cyclist, Arthur Valient, said visibility was poor on the night of the accident. It was raining and misty. He suddenly saw a figure right in front of him and he swerved to avoid a collision.
The coroner said although the evidence was meagre, it did not show negligence on the part of Valient. He considered that on wet, dark nights, when visibility was bad, greater care was necessary on the part of pedestrians. It appeared that ;vTiss Butt had crossed diagonally, and streets should not be crossed at an angle. The verdict was that Miss Butt met her death as the result of being struck by a motor-cycle driven by Valient.
