PRESENTATIONS.
'lho staff of tho Auckland branch cr, the National Bank of New Zealand met on Friday evening to bid farewell to Mr. I. S. Cantrell, assistant manager, who is leaving to join the staff of the general manager. In making the presentation of a cigarette ease and a pipe, Mr. W. F. Clouston said Mr. Cantrell had been popular both with the staff and the general public. In reply, Mr. Cantrell said his two years and a-half in Auckland had been very happy. He was sure the prevalence of the spirit of goodfellowship, not only in the staff itself, but between the staff and the public, had helped to place the bank in the position where it stood to-day. About 350 residents of Manawaru, Gordon, Wardville, Hungahunga and Te Arolia attended a social gathering in the Manawaru Hall on Friday evening to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. L. Clark, who are leaving the district after a residence of 15 years. Mr. F. E. Hughes, on behalf of the people of Manawaru and surrounding districts, presentee] Mr. Clark with a large oak chiming clock, Mrs. Clark with a canteen of cutlery and Miss Clark with a leather purse. He eulogised the neighbourly spirit which had always characterised tlie Clark family.
