PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS.
EIGHT OFFICERS AFFECTED. [BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] WELLINGTON. Saturday. A number of promotions and transfcrj of officers of the Marine Department are announced. They are:— Captain W. J. Keane, surveyor of ships and inspector of ships' compasses, Wellington, to be surveyor of ships and inspector of ships' compasses, chief surveyor's office, Wellington; Mr. J. Y. Alexander, inspector of machinery and engineer-surveyor of ships, Auckland, to be senior inspector and engineer-surveyor at Duncdin; Mr. R. Beveridge, inspector of machinery and engineer-surveyor of ships, Auckland, to be inspector-surveyor at Wanganui. Captain W. Whiteford, examiner of masters and mates, Wellington, to lie nautical adviser to t lie principal examiner, Wellington; Captain W. W. Stuart, assistant examiner of masters and mates and surveyor of ships, Wellington, to b* examiner of masters and mates, Wellington.
Captain G. P. Hall, assistant superintendent of mercantile marine, Wellington, to superintendent; Captain G. P. Evans, surveyor of ships, Dunediri, to be assistant superintendent of mercantile marine, Wellington; Captain H. A. Dillner, surveyor of ships, Lyttelton, appointed superintendent of mercantila marine, Dunedin.
