Yamanaka, a hot springs resort, was destroyed by fire this morning. The loss is estimated at £5,000,000. More than 700 dwellings and 30 hotels were destroyed. It is feared that there was considerable loss of life, but reports have not yet been received at Tokio. Yamanaka Spa is a resort much frequented by the Japanese. It lies in the midst of a group of saline and other springs, and is at a high altitude, surrounded by mountains, about 60 miles south-west of Tokio.
