ROTORUA.
The literary circle of the Eotorua Women's Club held its monthly reading at the residence of the president, Mrs. X. Keane, on Tuesday afternoon. The plav chosen for the reading was "Badger's Green," by P. C. Sherriff, a sketch depicting English country life. Among the readers were: —Mrs. Wallis, Mrs. Davjs, Mrs. Speer, Mrs. Randerson, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Keane, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Walsh, Miss J. pearce. Bridge Party. Mrs. F. Wilkie entertained a number of friends at bridge on Monday evening at her home in Pukaki Street. Arranged most attractively in the bridge room and hall were large bowls of chrysanthemums in autumn shades and foliage. The prizes were won by Mrs. \oung, first pnze, and Miss Stanton consolation prize. The guests were received in the hall by Mrs. Wilkie, who wore a frock of blue floral ninon with floral velvet coatee trimmed with white fur. Among tho guests were: —Mrs. Wallis, Mrs. Booth, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Davys, Mrs. S. Hay, Mrs. Ryder, Mrs. Knight, Miss Dyer (Wellington), Miss Stanton, Miss Searell, Miss Booth. . Personal. Mrs. Fraser, of Auckland, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. G. Yallop, of Pukeroa llill. Miss Sybil Thompson and Miss Dcinpsey, of New Plymouth, are spending a holiday in Rotorua. Miss t. Anderson leaves on Friday by | motor for Auckland.
