RELIABILITY TRIAL.
CONTEST FOR MOTORISTS. LARGE ENTRY EXPECTED. Preparations for the reliability trial to he conducted under the auspices of the Auckland Automobile Association over a course of about 150 miles on Saturday, May 23, have been practically completed. The course has been surveyed, and sketches and descriptions have been prepared indicating the various average speeds whic'n competitors will be required to maintain over certain sections of the course, and setting out the controls and time checks. . Eh tries havo been received fairly freely this week, and it is anticipated that there will be a large number of competitors. The following officials havo been appointed Starting and control steward, Mr. H. J. Butcher; starter, Mr. F. J. Farrell; assistant starter, Mr. J. B. King; call stewarJ, Mr. J. 8.. Hibbert; weighbridge steward, Mr. A. G. Anderson; lime check No. 1 and officer in charge) Helensville control. Mr. J. Roberts; time check No. 2 and officer in charge, Albany control, Mr. T. G. Julian; Waiwcra control, Messrs. R. B. Spinks and G. Hen» ning; engineer, Mr. G. P. Robertson. The touring manager of tho association, Mr. R. E. Champtaloup, is in charge of the preparation of tho course. Entries for the trial will close at the association s offices at 12.30 p.m. to-morrow.
