TE AWAMUTU HOUSES.
SOME .INTERESTING WORK. VOLIMOND AND TEELS. [FROM OUT! OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU. Thursday. The con 130 proper, with the trestles out about 18ft.. was in good order at Te Awanmtu this morning, and horses with engagements at Franklin got through some useful work Volimond, with n light boy up. again went attractively by defeating Trishna easily over a mile in 1.45. the lust four furlongs taking 50ls. Volimond. who was hard-held all the way. would have had 110 difficulty in registering better time, and is evidently right at the top of her foim. After going very fast early, Diamond Maid was stopping at tho end of six furlongs in 1.17. She has improved with racing and should bo worth keeping in mind for novice events ahead. . Perennis finished in front of Its Hoia at the end of fivo furlongs in 1.65, but lo Hoia is a lazy track-worker, and does not exert himself. Tee]s pleased by finishing clear of Hose Lupin nnd Sir Kay after running four furlongs in 495. Teels has been galloping brilliantly. and is expected to race in an improved manner at Franklin. All S-jult showed improved lurm r>y finishing alongside Rita's Light at the end of six furlongs in 1.18, tho last tour furlones taking 525. . Illuminagh and Valmarie ran " VB *\ ,r " longs in 1.5, finishing on terms. Valmarie. who has had a short let-up since running second in tho Oaks, bears a very bright appearance. and did her work well. Awarere, moving in his customary free style, reeled off three furlongs on the plough, in 40s. Depredate showed promise while jumping five fences and afterwards sprinting three furlongs on the plough in 435. Tenakoe (J. Meßae) and Desert Glow (A McGregor) were companions in a schooling bout over six hurdles. Both horses jumped splendidly, although P esci , Glow nearly camo to grief at the fourth hurdle, but recovered cleverly and finished the course in geod style. Spalpiko (A. McGregor) gave a brilliant displav over six hurdles, jumping clean and fast. Spalpiko has had his progress hindered by an injured leg. but is now hitting out in good style again.
