THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND. FIRST VISIT SINCE LAST JUNE. The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe. and Lady Bledisloe arrived in Auckland, yesterday and went into residence at Government House. It is 10 months since they wero last in Auckland. Under ordinary circumstances they would have arrived here in March but the intervention of the special session of Parliament necessitated the presence of Lord Bledisloe in Wellington while ."Parliament was sitting. The Vicc-Regal party, which arrived by train from Rotorua, at 4 p.m., included Lady Nora Jellicoe, who is the guest of Lord and Lady Bledisloe at Government House. Their Excellencies were attended by Mr. A. C. Day, official secretary; Sir John Hanham, A.D.C.; and Lieutenant J. C. Ehvorthy, A.D.C. On leaving Auckland last June Their Excellencies spent two months in Wellington while Parliament was in session and visited Christchurch in August. Then followed visits to the Nelson district, Dunedin, Gore and Invercargill, after which Their Excellencies-visited the West Coast Sounds, Westport, Greymouth and Reefton. They had a brief stay at Mount Cook, the Franz Josef Glacier and later at Tongariro National Park, their programme being revised following the Hawke's Bay earthquake disaster in February. Their Excellencies visited the earthquake area a week later. The last three months were spent in Wellington. On their way north, Lord Bledisloe spent' a week at Rotorua; and Wairakei, where he obtained good sport with the rod. His Excellency had made no arrangements yesterday regarding his movements during the next two* days. ■ with the exception of the rally of Ihe Auckland Young Men's and Young Women's Interdenominational Youth Councils, which he will attend at the Town Hall on Sunday afternoon. On Mondav Their Excellencies will leave for Whangarei, where they will spend Tuesday, visiting Hikurangi during their stay. On Wednesday they will proceed io Dargaville and before returning (n Auckland will inspect Trounson Kauri Park and the Waipoua Kauri Forest. They will join the train al Maungat.urofo on Friday, arriving in Auckland the same evening.
