HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. CLOUDY TO OVERCAST. The following weather forecast, for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— A moderate depression of tropical character is crossing tho northern Tasman Sea, and is moving slowly south-eastward. An area of high barometric pressure is moving on to tho Dominion from the west. Expect mainly fair to fine weather in western and southern districts, with cold temperatures. Cloudy and unsettled weather is.indicated in northern and east coast areas, with , a scattered rainfall. Easterly to south-easterly winds, moder-' ato to strong, prevailing and freshening in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and strong southcrlies ruling southward of the above-mentioned places. Rough seas on tho cast coast, northward from East Cape; smooth to moderate seas on tho west coast. Local outlook : Cloudy to overcast, with occasional showers. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 2D.951n. Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 30.00 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 67deg.; Minimum, 53dOg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —An anti-cyclono is crossing tho southern portion of the Dominion while pressure remains low in the north. Barometers arc again falling over eastern Australia. Indications are for moderate to stroilg south-easterly to north-easterly winds, of gale' force at times in the far north and parts of Cook Strait, but later decreasing. &'eas rough north of Farewell Spit and Ivaikouia, elsewhere moderate. Modorato to strong easterly to northerly winds in tho eastern Tasman Sea. Rough seas in tho northern portion, moderate in the southern. The weather will still bo changeable, _ with sealleAsd rain north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, but more especially in eastern and northern districts, elsewhere line.
