OBITUARY.
MB. P. H. W ATKINS. The death has occurred of Mr. P. H. Watkins, a well-known resident of the Raglan district, at his residence at Te Mata. Mr. Watkins, who was in his 77th year, was born at Birmingham, England, and came to New Zealand in the ship British Empire 51 years ago. After a short residence in Auckland ho removed to Raglan, where he obtained a position as manager of a general store. While in Raglan he married Miss Phoebe Bregmen, and shortly afterwards started in business on his own account at Kawhia. About 36 years ago he removed to Te Mata and built the first shop in that town. Mr. Watkins was postmaster at Te Mata for 30 years, and was a churchwarden in t,Jio Anglican Church for a similar period. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. J. Wharton, of Te Mata, and one son, Mr. H. Watkins, of To Mata. There are six grandchildren.
