CHARGE OF ARSON.
OPENING OF THE TRIAL. A commencement tfas made before Mr. Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court yesterday with the trial of John Lewis Gunning (Mr. Sullivan), motor driver, aged 42, tin a charge of setting fire fo clothing and other articles *o situated that, ho knew the shop of William .Scott Miller, at 557, Dominion Road, was likely to catch fire from them. The offence was alleged to have taken placp :on March 15. After the Crown Prosecutor, Mr. Meredith, had given his opening address to the jury, His Honor adjourned tho caso until this morning.
