ACCUSED FOUND GUILTY.
REMANDED FOR SENTENCE. A charge of unlawfully using an instrument was preferred in the Supreme Court yesterday against Alfred Theodore D6uglas Woodley, aged 46, waterside worker (Mr. Singer). The offence was alleged to have taken place on December 21, 1930. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. Meredith, said that as accused had mado admissions of the offence both to the father of the girl concerned and to the police, it was difficult to know what answer he could make. The giil broke down under crossexamination, and had to bo assisted from the Court to enablo her to recover, before continuing. Mr. Justice Herdman said that if, in the jury's opinion, the father and the police officers concerned were witnesses of truth, the jury could come to no other conclusion than that there was a definite and clear admission by the accused of his guilt. The jury returned a verdict of guilty and accused was remanded for sentence until next Wednesday.
