STANDARDISED CHEESE.
PROHIBITION URGED. . FARMERS' UNLON SUPPORT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The manufacture of standardised cheese found little favour with the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union at its meeting to-day. Thero were three remits bearing on the subject and the first of these, from Otago, urged that the question of prohibiting the export of standardised cheese should be taken up again. Two remits came from South Taranaki, the first of which had the same aim as the Otago one, but these were withdrawn after the latter had been passed almost unanimously.
ABANDONMENT NEXT SEASON. . TARANAKI CONFIDENT. [by telegraph.—press association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. That the manufacture of standardised cheese will be definitely abandoned next season was the opinion of prominent men engaged in the dairy industry when asked to comment on unofficial statements that the policy of the Dairy Division is likely to be amended within the next few weeks. Mr. James Hine, a member of the Dnirv Produce Board, said he was prepared to say standardised cheese would go before next season, for tho reason that New Zealand must rehabilitate her position- on the market. He would say that a majority of the Dairy Produce Board, a decided majority, was now in favour of the abolition of the regulations permitting the manufacture of standardised cheese.
