C. A. Hislop defeating Mr. M. F. Luckie. Mr. Luckie was formerly deputy-mayor. Both candi-; dates have a long record of service as members of the City Council. Details of the voting are:— T. C. A. The Chrislchurch Mayoralty election resulted as follows: D. G. Sullivan (Labour) 15,733 W. Hay ward (Citizens) . 14,310 Majority for Sullivan 1,423 The City Council election in Christchurch is by proportional representation. First preferences only were counted tonight. The retiring Labour Mayor, Mr. J. K. Archer, tops the poll, followed by Mr. E. 11. Andrews, Citizens' Association candidate. It seems possible that the Citizens' Association will have eight representatives; Labour, sis; Independent, one; Independent Labour, one. The result of the 1929 election was a> follows: J. K. Rogers, by 29 votes in a record poll. Labour has three seats on the City Council. New Plymouth.—Mayoralty: V. H. 8. Griffiths. Palmerston North.—Mayoralty: A. E. Mansford, 4089; M. A. Elliott, 2405. • Wairoa.—Mayoralty: H. L. Barker,, 567; J. Corkill (sitting Mayor), 460. Timaru.—Mayoralty: T. W. Sattertlnvaite, 2247; W. Angland, I§7o (sitting Mayor); P. C. Vinnell, 1022. Hospital Board: The Rev. C. L. Carr, M.P.* was defeated, being bottom of the poll. There were five candidates for thre« vacancies. Invercargill.—Mayoralty: John Miller, 3366; J. D. Campbell (sitting Mayor), 3322. The half-holiday poll resulted: Saturday, 3519; Wednesday (the present half-holiday), 3393. Westport.—Mayoralty: J. H. Harkness (re-elected), 903; G. Scandrett, 710. Hospital Board: Miss Agnes Holland (daughter of Mr. H. E. Holland, M.P.), 1145; E. R. Fox, 692; W. P. Caldwell, 647.
WAITEMATA POWER BOARD. THREE NEW MEMBERS. NO CHANGE AT DEVONPORT. Eleven candidates offered themselves for four seats on the Waitemata ElectricPower Board as representatives of the Boroughs of Takapuna, Northcote and New Lynn. All the retiring members sought re-election, but only one, Mr. J. A. Algie, of Takapuna, was successful in retaining his seat. Tho representative of Birkenhead oil (lie oulgoing board, Mr. W. B. Darlow, and the three Devonport members, Messrs. S. E. Kennings, 0.. W. Marks, and G. Trevithick, have all been re-elected unopposed. Messrs. J. Mackie, G. O'Halloran and H. A. Robertson, the present representatives of Waitemata County and the Helensville Town District, will hold office until May, 1932, and Mr. W. R. T. Leighton's term as representative of the Henderson and Glen Eden Town Districts will not expire until September. Details of the poll are as follows: TAKAPUNA.
