ROAD RACING SEASON. MANUKAU CLUB'S EVENTS. Pine weather favoured tho Manukau Amateur Cycling Club for its opening handicap road races of the season on Saturday. I lie junior race was over two 0 J triangular course, 6 miles, and attracted, a field of 17 starters. The scratch mark was occupied by H. V. Gordon, who was giv..ng away handicaps up to 3m. D. liobuison. 30s. in 14m 10s. , Tho senior handicap was over a longer distance than that for any previous opening of the season events. Out of a field or only seven finished the IV 3-5 miles. Foubister s tune of 42m s<s was l.ne fastest registered. His time was an improvement of 17 seconds nn his previous record over the same course. % AUCKLAND CLUB OPENS. The Auckland Cycle Club's road race on Saturduv was over a distance of 16 miles, three laps of the larger circuit, with a concluding lap of the smaller course. The event, the opening one of the season, was for tho cantain's cup presented by S v Hayes. Tho placed riders were:—K. Kae, 6m 30s, 1; F. Lowndes. 7m 30s, 2: W. Mathieson. 2m, 3:' H.
