The copious rain since Easier has left the tracks ut Awapuni very heavy, but it lias encouraged the jumping brigade to get busy: Some of the horses engaged at the Hawke's Bay meeting at Trentham next Saturday worked this morning. Merry Demon and his half-brother Merry Melody, who are commencing to look more like their old selves, ran a mile on the extreme outside of the course proper in 1.57 2-5. Llandudno had the measure of Keddar at the end of six furlongs in 1.23. Keddar is moving moro freely now that the sting is out of the ground. Neither Paliu nor Glen Rossie appreciated the heavy going and they took 1.20 2-5 for six furlongs. Wallaruh and Top Flier were sent oyer fivo furlongs, the last half-mile taking | 57 4-sa. Wallaruh iB now an improved ' horse. . j Blacksmith was under a hard pull throughout in a six-furlongs gallop with Birkbcck in 1.20. Mister Gamp's Display. Spearopa (A. McDonald) and Star Girl (A. E. Stratton) negotiated a round of the hurdle fences attractively. The former is now jumping better in company. I For the first occasion since competing at Marlon at Now Year time Brilliant Light (11. Gordon) went alone over a round of the battens, jumping straight and fast. Unfortunately, the Australian Sun gelding does not put on condition. Cullamart (It. C. Miles) was given his first "insight into the art since his return from a .-pell and fenced soundly. Mister Gnrap (R- G. Miles) took his first fence rather extravagantly and his front feet slipped on landing, but ho improved as he advanced, and was still going strongly at the end of a couple of rounds. Uo enjoys the winter conditions. L. V/ilson's Horses. J v "Wilson halted- here on his return from Ellorslio with My Own, Simba und Jenny Diver. He will attend the llawke's Bay meeting, prior to returning home. L. Ivnapp has received the Royal Stag gelding Royal Black and no doubt ho will Be nut to the jumping game. Mrs McDonald took over the Callaghan mare Gueress after the itangitikei meeting and this jumper is again m the active ra, rhe Tea Tray—Blackada filly in R. E. Hatch's care is again an active member of his string.
