ALL-AGED STAKES.

.BRONZE EAGLE'S SUCCESS.

SUPREMACY NARROWLY BEATEN

SCRATCHING OF KARAPOTI

The withdrawal of Knrapoti, who is'suffering from a bruised foot, robbed the All-Aged Stakes of considerable interest, and when High Comedy, Porshnm and United were also scratched thero were only three runners. However, the small field was compensated for by an exciting finish, in which Bronze Eagle just prevailed from Supremacy. The wagering on the race was not very heavy, and Bronzo Et.gle was mado a scorching hot favourite

They left to a perfect start, and raced abreast for over two furlongs, when Lady Quex and Bronz* Eagle, who were on tho outside of Supremacy, dropped in behind. Turning: int" the straight Supremacy just held a slight advantage, but Bronze Eagle ran to him quickly in the straight and looked to be doin,? it very easily. Near Ihe distance Lady Quex raised excitement when eh- dashed up on tho inside. Less tho.n a furlong from the post the trio were almost in line, and with 100 yards to go Supremacy just had his head in front. Momentarily it appeared a,s if he might win. but Bronze Eagle finished on gamely and beat him by a short :neck. Lady Quex being half a length away third. Tho winnor e performance was a good one in spite of his narrow margin, as ho had to cover more ground than cither of his opponents. N His finishing; run was characterised by considerable ganieness, and he was doing better than tho other two nt the post. Supremacy's running was in marked contrast to his effort at Ellerslie, where his form wis too bad lo be true. Lady Quex ran her usual honest race, and maintained her reputation for consistency. Mr. M. H. Tims and his troinfr, A. Cook, were very disappointed when they could not run Karapot.i. While out at walking exercise a few days beforo tho meeting Karav poti picked up a stone in one of his feet and after ho had worked on Saturday ho was sore. A blacksmith wan summoned to examine his foot and it was then ascertained that a bruiso wan tho ctmso of th? trouble, which should soon vanish. Karupoti will now go into winter cjucirters and will not raco again until the spring.

TIETE TWO-YEAR-OLD RAOE.

PETER JACKSON'S NARROW WIN

With 11. Gray in the sadcle, Peter .Tackson was backed down to odds-on for (ho Oakley Handicap, and he realised expectations by winning, although Gray had to ride in most vigorous stylo to land him n narrow winner from Fedora. Royal Gallant and Fedora were quickest to begin and they led early from Peter Jackson. Curie. Speedmint and Whakapara, Nearing tho turn Whakapara, went up fast on the outsido and at the bend he was right up on the outside of Fedora and Royal Gallant, with Peter Jackson and Curie handy. Peter Jackson challenged at the distance and he scored by a head from Fedora. Speedfast was two lengths away third, and Curio was fourth. , Then followed Whakapara, Teels and Speedmint. The best feature of Petor Jackson's performance was that he finished very gamely under pressure. Fedora hung on surprisingly well and ran one of her best races. Speedfast finished on strongly and so end Curie, who was unlucky. Less than a furlong from the post Curie was up with tho leaders, but ho was badly stopped, otherwise he might have won.

GREAT FINISH IN SPRINT

HAVERING JUST SCORES

A great finish in the Railway Handicap saw the hot favourite, Havering, just beat Gold Money and Leitrim. Prince Val was badly left, Silvermine. Refresher and Havering being the quickest to begin. With two furlongs covered Leitrim was in front and had Silvermine, Gold Money, Refresher and Havering as his nearest attendants. Gold Money went up fast near the turn and showed tho way into the straight to Lady's Boy, Leitrim, Havering and Silvermine. Once they straightened up Leitrim came on the rails and Havering on the outside. Fifty yards from the post Leitrim, Gold Money and Havering were almost in line,, Havering staying on best to win by half-a-head from Gold Money. Leitrim waa halfra-length away third, and Lucy Rose was fourth. Nest came Silvermine, Refresher and White Wings.

Havering was just on the move when the tapes were released and this helped him considerably. Green vent out very quickly on Gold Money, otherwise she might have won. Leitrim ran a 6plendid race with his weight and is undoubtedly a greatly-im-proved sprinter. Lady's Boy showed up well to the turn and Lucy Rose came right from the rear to get, fourth. Refresher and White Wings both ran good races. SUCCESS OF JALLDY KARO. WINNER FINISHES STRONGLY. Yet another favourite was successful in tho Chevalier Handicap, when the heavilybacked Jalldy Karo won narrov/Jy from Camp Prince Pakitere received the best of the start and led along the back from Camp Prince, Sub-Edito/. Escalus, Jalldy Kavo and Gold Lily. With three furlongs covered Pakitere was steadied and Camp Prince assumed the lead from Escalus, lakiterc, Royal Survey, King Swift and Jalldy Karo. Once into the straight Jalldy Karo came through to win by half a length from Camp Prince, who defeated Royal Survey by a length and a-half. Neil was fourth, with Cay Idea, Sub-Editor and Pakitere in a bunch next. Jalldy Karo won nicely and is now striking his true form. Camp Prince ran his best race for some lime, and Royal Survey did well to get third after being wide out most of the way Sub-Editor dropped back quickly after being prominent early, but was running on at the end Ue may do better next time out LAST RACE TO CYNTHIA N. H. GRAY'S FOURTH WINNER. H. Gray scored his fourth win for the day when he steered Cynthia N. to victory in the Titirimgi Handicap, for which Chief Link. Paitonu and Palutahi were the favourites. Patutahi was quickest to begin, but Envoy soon ran to tho lead from Tetrarchate, Patutahi, Hannibal, Cynthia, N. and Paitonu. Passing the five-furlonrs post Paitonu moved up on the rails and when the half-mile was reached he was just in behind Envoy. Tetrarchate and Patutahi.

Envoy and Tdtrarchate were still the leaders at the home turn, where Patutahi swung out wide and the colours of Paitonu. Cynthia N., British King and Chief Link were also prominent. Cynthia N, end British King challenged at the distance and Cynthia N. finished on strongly to win by a length and a-half from British King. Paitonu was two lengthß back third, and Envoy was fourth. Then followed Patutahi and Chief Link.

The winner was very patiently ridden in the early stages and finished with great dush. Her victory was well overdue, as she had not won for over two years. British King wa-3 not too well placed e.arly . ncL, came from a good way back Paitonu made a. solid showing, but Chief Link and Patutahi both disappointed, Patutahi stopping badly at the finish.
