RACE TO COROMANDEL. SUCCESS OF OMATERE. [from our own correspondent.] COROMANDEL, Saturday. Tho yacht raco from Auckland to Coromandel for keel and centreboard boats, which started from King's Wharf at 7.30 o'clock on Thursday evening, was divided inlo three classes, keel yachts, mullet boats and 18ft. and under classes, and attracted very good entries, no fewer than 30 boats facing the starter. With one or two exceptions tho boats crossed the lino at gunfire. The boats were favoured with a light northwesterly wind on tho run down tho harbour, and a -number set their spinnakers. About 10 o'clock, when the leading boats were off Motuihi, the wind increased in strength, and off Cowes Bay it was of gale strength. Several boats retired at this point and went across tho gulf nest mornins. In tho raco for keel yachts the competitors were:—Wairiki, Speedwell, Naiad, Janet, Eulalio. The finishing times were: Wuiriki (scr). 12h 37m 30s: Janet (15m), Ih 2m 20s; Naiad (46m), Ih 6m. < Result.—Naiad, 1: Wairiki, 2; Janet. 3. Tho starters in tho race for mullet boats were:—Doreen, Starloch, Malua, Mnwai. Omatero, Lorna. Hetty, Mavie. Kukoa. Why Not. Mirag6, Winifred. Starlight. Spray, Nomad. The finishing times were: Omatere (sm), 12h 32m ss; Starloch (scr), 12h 33m; Starlight (sm). 12h 5-ini 555: Why Not (18m). 12h 58m 395; Spray (sm), 12m 58m 40a. Result.—Omatero, 1; Starloch, 3; Why Not, 3.

Result.—Ranui, 1; Magic, 2; Desdemona, 3. ■ Owing to heavy rain the regatta was post- r poned until Monday. MERCURY BAY REGATTA. SPEED BOATS AND YACHTS, [from our own correspondent.] WIHTIANGA, Saturday. The Mercury Bay regatla was held to« day. The speed boat events were a feature of the event. Following are tho results: — Outboard Open Handicap, 3 miles.—Miss , Clovedon, 1; Red Streak, 2: Miss Wilma, 3. Gee Whizz finished second, but was disqualified for starting upstream instead of down. Launch Race. Opon Handicap (Local). — Dr.untless, 1; Elsie, 2; Belly B, 3. Second Outboard Open Handicap.—Miss Clevedon, 1: Miss Wilma, 2; Holdfast, 3. Elto was disqualified for rounding wrong mark. .=■ Mercury Bay Outboard Champiotiship.— Miss Wilma. 1; Holdfast, 2. Outboard Motor Sweepstakes.—Lady Eve, 1; Red Skin, 2; Chancit 1., 3. The annual ocean race from Auckland to Mercury Bay which started from King's Wharf last Thursday ovening was won by Scout (2h 15m). Queenie (lh SOm) was second and Mahaki (2k 10m), third.
