GATHERING AT CAMBRIDGE. A SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE. [from our own correspondent.] CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. The sports meeting held here to-day under the auspices of the Cambridge and Hamilton Amateur Athletic Clubs was favoured with fine weather and attracted a large crowd. [BY TELEGRArH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] TLMARU. Sunday. A team of Duncdin Civil Service harriers at tho week-end held what is believed to be tho first road relay ever held in New Zealand. They covered 121 miles in 13 hours 40 minutes 35 Beconds. The team comprised 10 runners, each of whem covered a little over peven miles on the first day and Blighlly over five riiiles each on the second day. The first runner left Dunedin at 9 a.m. on Friday. Heavy weather was experienced until Oamaru was reached, at 3.19 p.m. Tho party stayed the night at Oamaru and left for Tim.iru early yesterday morning. The captain of tho team. B. R. Mikcrnan, arrived at the viaduct at Caroline Bay at 3.19 p.m., the same time that Oijmara was reached on the previous day. The time from Oamaru to Tirnaru i? given as 7 hours 51 minutes. The average mile on tho first day is recorded as 6 minutes 30 seconds, and on the seci;nd day G minutes 40 secouds. The weather yesterday was almost perfect, though on each stretch the runners found the tar-sealed roads troublesome.
