INTRUDER IN BEDROOM.

AN UNSUCCESSFUL, CHASE.

EARLY MORNING INCIDENT.

An intruder was detected in a bedroom in a block of flats at 16, Park Avenue, Grafton, at five o'clock yesterday morning by the occupant, who chased the thief for some distance without success.

Awakened by a slight. no:ise, the occupant of the flat, Mr. Albert James Pennell, heard someone moving round his bedroom and immediately switched oh the light. The man made a rush for the door, but. Mr. Pennell was able to catch a glimpse of him. The man rushed down the stairs and through the front door of the house, which was open, Mr. Pennell giving chase. Running down Park Avenue into Park Rmd, the intruder, who was in his stockinged feet, turned along toward the hospital and when he neared the institution suddenly jumped over a fence and ran across a section. His pursuer made a further attempt to catch him, but lost sight of him at the back of the section. He later reported the matter to the police. The man left a pair of boots in Mr. Pennell's bedroom. He was a short man of medium build and was wearing a dark blue cuit.
