MEMORIAL WINDOWS.
KING'S COLLEGE CHAPEL.
FINE ARTISTRY SHOWN. PORTRAYING LIFE OF CHRIST The two now memorial windows which were unveiled and dedicated in King's College memorial cjiapel on Sunday morning, well maintain the previous standard of artistic work by Mr. A. L. Ward, of London. The window depicting the "Draught of Fishes," which is in memory of Hugh George Waring, an old boy of the school and formerly of Suva, who was killed in tho Great War, was unveiled by Mr. L. S. Lazarus, who erected tho window in memory of his friend. The perspective of this window is most remarkable and the drawing of the figures-makes an impression of beauty and strong manliness combined, Tho second window represents the raising of the "Widow's Son of Nain," and has been erected in memory of Percy Trewby, who died as the result of war wounds. It was unveiled by his brothen Mr. Frank Trewby, of Wellington, in the presence of his mother and sister. This window has a strong sympathetica! appeal and shows hope breaking through sadness.
After the ceremony of tho unveiling and the dedication of tho windows, tho headmaster, tho Rev. H. K. Archdall, pointed out that the purpose of the windows of the chapel was to portray tho lifo of Christ. The chief events of His life with thp outstanding parables and miracles, taking up the east end and north and south sides of the chapel. The windows that wero to be placed in the west end of the chapel \rould portray the continuous work of Christ as Prophet, Priest and King. The whole series of windows were then brought into touch with the age-long task of the Christian Church by the small windows representing "The Twelve Apostles of the Lamb." The headmaster also spoke of the necessity of allowing the beauty of the win* dows to produce the beauty of true Christian lif<» in those who saw them. He was anxious that the people of Auckland, of whatever religious loyalty, should khow that the memorial chapel was always open and could be visited.
