ANNUAL PICNICS.
THREE AUCKLAND OUTINGS.
About 300 people attended the annual picnic of Auckland bakers and pastrycooks, held at Swanson Park on Saturday. ;A sports programme was held, the results being as follows:
Apprentices' handicap, A Hitcliens, 1. Garters' race, A. Elisor, 1; W. G. Greenman. 2. Three-legged race, Miss J. Perkinson and Mr. J. McGuire, 1. Royal Georgo handicap. R. Cochrane, 1; B. Ford. 2. Married ladies' race, Mrs. Wylie, 1; Mrs. Moore. 2. Thread-the-needle race. Miss J. Pcrkinson and Mr. J. McGuire, 1: Mr. and Mrs. Moore, 2. Members' wives' race. Mrs. S. McConnell, 1; Mrs. A. J. Parker, V: Mrs. L. J. Coxon, 3. Men's open handicap, A. Kitchens, 1; A. Ensor, '2. Members' daughters' race. Miss J. McConnell, 1: Miss Betty Sorenson, 2;. Miss Mary Parkes, 3. Captain Cook Cup for journeymen, R. Geard, 1; R. Cochrane, 2. Single ladies* race. Miss J. Perkinson .1. Old men's race, A. E. Robertson, 1; 1. G. Cheak, 2. The annual picnic of Messrs. Stonex Brothers was held at Motuihi on Saturday. There was an attendance of about liaO. Miss Bnwnsley, I; Miss Taylor. 2. 50 yards married ladies' race, Mrs. Warde, 1; Mrs. Barroll, 2. 100 yards men's st.afT race, ,T. Batty, 1 ; A. Smith. 2. 100 yards open handicap, Adams, 1: A. Smith. 2. Threelegged race, Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Wardo, 1: Mr. and Mrs. Barrel], 2. Tug-of-war. headquarters won from branches. Tho annual picnic of the Auckland Gas Company's sinff was held on Saturday at Pino Island The ferry steamer Condor conveyed a large number of employees and their friends to tho island. Various races and novelty events were decided, the children being especially catered_ for. An event which created a. lot of interest was tho tug of war for a challenge cup. Several departments were represented nnd niter some exceptionally good pulls, the event was won by the following team, representing tho garage Messrs. D. Munro (captain), J. Bnyliss, A. Rowlands, T. McMillan, \V. Budden. T. Murray and W. Cole, junr. . , Both on the boat nnd nt the ground music was played by Mr. Trevor band. A competition among the employees wives resulted in tho prize, a solid leather suitcase, going to tho _ Devonport works, Mrs. Green being the winner,
