HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

INDICATIONS FOR CHANGE. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Barometric pressure is still high over the Dominion, while the cyclonic depression is moving on to the northern Tasman Sea. Expect fair to cloudy and warm weather conditions, with cloudiness increasing for a change to follow in northern and east coast districts, heavy rain being indicated in those areas. Mainly fine and bright in western and southern districts. Easterly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing and freshening in places northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and moderate south-easterlies ruling southward of the above-mentioned districts. Seas becoming rough and increasing on the east coast, particularly northward from East Capej smooth to moderate seas on the west coast. Localoutlook: —A change is indicated. Expect fair and warm conditions, then clouding over and rain following. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.05 in. Midnight, Saturday -.. .. 30.00jn. Temperatures in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 80deg. Minimum, 58def. \ GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An anti-cyclone is still centred over southern districts, pressure remaining relatively low to the northward of the Dominion. Indications are for moderate to strong south-easterly to easterly winds north of Westport and Kaikoura, squally at times between East Capo and Cook Strait; light variable winds south of Westport and Kaikoura, later tending northerly. Seas rather rough about' Cook Strait and the east coast of the North Island, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Moderate to strong south-easterly to easterly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate seas. The weather will be still mainly fair to fine, with cool temperatures. Some scattered showers are likely in the Far North and the East Cape districts. RAINFALL RECORD.
