With his time completely taken up on matters in connection with the Hawke's Bay earthquake, tlie Prime Minister, Uiglit Hon. G. W. Forbes, will not now be in a position" to announce until next week the measures the Government considers necessary to meet the country's economic difficulties. .
Mr. Forbes' had originally intended to make the Government's proposals known cither to-day or to-morrow, but since tho calamity on Tuesday iris 'whole attention, as well as that of his colleagues, hfis, been concentrated on' emergency relief measures and other matters they havo' had to deal with as a result of the unexpected disaster' in Hawke's Bay. Si:c members of tho Cabinet are iri the devastated areas.
Several questions in connection with the statement havo yet to be finalised. However, Mr. Forbes said to-day that he hoped to be in a position' to make it next week.
