ILLNESS ON THE MARAMA. HOLIDAY SPENT IN DOMINION. (Received January 9, 10.15 p.m.) - SYDNEY. Jan. 9. After spending a holiday in New Zealand, Mr. A. V. Whitta, a well-known Sydney bookmaker, went 011 board tho Marama a week ago, to return home. Mr. Whitta became ill. It is understood that there was no doctor on board tho vessel, which was speeded up and readied Sydney 011 Tuesday, two hours before her schedule time.

The patient was taken in an ambulance to a hospital, where he died to-day. Peritonitis supervened 011 appendicitis.
