BILLIARDS CHAMPIONSHIP. LEADING PLAYERS STAND OUT. LONDON, Jnn. 8. In view of the Billiards Council's reservations, in their invitation to a conference, that the championship must be docided on West of England cloth, with tho final to be played at Birmingham, Walter Lindrum, Clark McConachy, Joe Davis and Tom Newman, in a letter to tho council, say they aro unanimously decided that there is litllo good in accepting tho invitation. The professionals add:—"lt is our intent ion to promote our own tournament, details of which we are acquainting you with later." The scores in the matches in progress are as follows: — Newman has made 15,054, including breaks of 282, 1048 and 720, unfinished, and Davis has made 13,289, including breaks of 344, 524, 450, 232. Against Lindrum, McConachy (receives 7000) has made 11,567, including breaks of 320, 321. Lindrum has made 7127, including breaks of 217, 1015, 256 and 302. At snooker McConachy has scored 484, and Lindrum 459 (Published by Arrangement.)
