Tho North Island tennis championships were continued to-day when most of tho prominent players won their matches. Tho greatest surprise of the. day was tho defeat of Miss M. Macfarlano, of Auckland, by Mrs. C. Smith, of Wanganui. The results are:—
Men's Doubles.—Second round: M. L. Lampe and J. C. Charters beat K. W. Dyer and D. C. Cooinbe, 7 —5, 5—7, 6—2. Third round: C. B. Webster and A. 0. Wallace beat I. P. Grant and L. S. Berg, 6—3, 6—2; J. C. Charters and M. L. Lampe beat T Rhodes Williams and L. Franco, I—6, 6—l, 7—5.
Ladies' Doubles.—First round: Misses Pownall and Zeisler won by default. Second round: Mrs. W. J.
