SALE OF STAMPS.
WITHDRAWAL OF COMMISSION LOSS TO SHOPKEEPERS. [nv TEt.EOn.\VH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. In accordance with its decision rigidly to curtail expenditure wherever possible, tho Cabinet decided to-day to discontinue the payment of commission on the sale of postage stamps previously retained by shopkeepers who sold stamps in conjunction with their business. In future no commission will bo paid to those selling stamps outside a post oflice. Tho estimated annual saving as a result of this step is set down at £3OOO. Licences for tho sale of stamps by' shopkeepers: are now expiring. As a result of the Cabinet's decision none will be renewed. It was recently announced that the discount of percent. 011 the saK l of stamps up to and including those of a value of one shilling would not be allowed where other facilities were, considered adequate to meet the conveniences of the public.
