ACCIDENTS IN FIJI.
CAR FALLS OVER PRECIPICE. DRIVER SERIOUSLY INJURED. [KHOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] SUVA, Jan. 2. The holidays have not passed without a series of accidents. Complaint hus been made for somo time about the narrow streets and the lack of care which somo drivers evince, but peculiarly enough neither was to blame for two serious accidents that occurred last week. When a party of three young men were proceeding home to the Rewa River at about 4 a.m. after spending Christmas Eve in •Suva, the car fell over a precipice for a distance of 25ft. and was badly smashed. Tho driver, Mr. I?. Barber, received serious injuries to his spine and lies unable to move liis limbs in the hospital. Another of the party, Mr. Henry Freemun, had his jaw broken, and his brother, Mr. Arthur A. Freeman, escaped with a cut foot. People who have visited the scene of tho accident, say they marvel that any of tho party escapod death. As Mrs. W. 11. Cuthbert was crossing Renwick_ Road last Monday a hnlf-ton lorry driven by an Indian ran into her knocking her down and badly injuring her, although it is believed not 'seriously. She was taken to tho hospital.
