HOSPITAL SUPPLIES.
METHOD OF PURCHASE. OFFICIALS' ACTION APPROVED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Thursday. Tho method followed by the Waikato Hospital Board in buying supplies of textile goods was explained at a meeting of tlie board to-day. The chairman, Mr. J. J. Rvburil, said that a Hamilton firm had written complaining that it had not received consideration when supplies of textile goods were required by the board. It had been the policy of the secretarymanager and house-manager, said Mr. Ryburn, to purchase supplies in the cheapest market. It was essontial that the board should consider every pound that was spent, and it had been found that the large wholesale firms could sell at keener prices and give better discounts than the local firms. If the tradespeople in any of the towns in the board's district could compete with these prices the board would be glad to deal with them.
The house committee reported that after considering the matter it was satisfied and approved of the present method of purchasing textile goods. The ireport was adopted.
